page topic being researched
06/16/10, I ordered a reference book, so hopfuly it will answer my questions.
... plastic capcords, leather capcords and braided capcords. It seems there are four basic types of braided capcords from 1960 to 1990. I have no idea if any one has clasified them, so cleverly (sarcasm) I'll call them :
Type 1. Right tilted braid. Unadjustable Large knot.
Type 2. Right tilted braid. Adjustable large knot.
Type 3. Left tilted braid. Adjustable large knot.
Type 4. Left tilted braid. Adjustable small knot.
Assumption. The black braided capcords and multi colored braided capcords such as postal visorcaps etc. will not have all four Types.
Assumption. For the silver capcords there is a fifth type. The diference is color and date of use.
Type 1. Dull silver, right tilted braid. Unadjustable Large knot.
Type 2a. Dull silver, right tilted braid. Adjustable Large knot. These were replaced by the left tilted capcords.
Type 2b. Bright Silver, right tilted braid. Adjustable large knot. These are found on GST, Vopo, caps etc from the 1980's.
Type 3. Dull silver, left tilted braid. Adjustable large knot.
Type 4. Dull silver, left tilted braid. Adjustable small knot.
Questions I have:
1. What are the dates of use?
2. What agencies used which cord? exempli gratia why is Type 2b on some GST, Vopo, DRK visor caps but not on all?
3. Why are Type 4 cords seen on earlier visor caps?
I guess I could just ask some one, but I'm having fun with this!
(these are my own observations based on my own collection and examples I have see online. (Right now this page is just "my note book" and the content will change often untill I'm finished)
